CASE STUDIES
 

  A newly promoted female entertainment industry executive in her thirties engaged with us in a coaching relationship to gain more credibility in her new position. Through our work together, she desired to shift her communication style from overly diplomatic to more assertive. She was neither comfortable with nor experienced in managing a team. Up until now, her performance had been measured on her technical abilities only. Through KADIMA's leadership development program, she learned to better target her communication style. The first step she took to this end was to pinpoint those specific communication behaviors that were limiting her. More importantly, she learned to understand her team's differences and needs in order to more effectively support them. She has made significant changes in her communication style. This has become evident by her increased level of confidence, her ability to more frequently and effectively challenge the process, and her enhanced skill at giving constructive feedback to and motivating her team.

  A male in his thirties who had worked in Marketing for nine years hired us to help him make a successful career change. After years of being on the marketing track, he desired to shift into a finance position with a different industry. He was looking for a greater level of fulfillment and challenge in his career. We took him through the KADIMA career coaching program so that he could get clarity around his values and priorities, what he excelled at, what skills would be most transferable, and how to best position himself. We worked with this individual to create his action plan and get him excited about his action steps. After three months of ongoing powerful coaching, he made a successful career transition. He is now in a finance position and on a career track with which he is thrilled!

  A brand new management team of four at a digital start-up company in Los Angeles came to us for help. They were struggling with balancing their own individual styles. Through the KADIMA team coaching program, we helped the team establish clear and common goals that were understood and accepted by all members. Next, we engaged in a number of team building exercises to help members appreciate the diversity of styles and to teach them how to work more cooperatively together. We also clearly defined team roles and responsibilities and spent some time practicing effective and useful feedback. During the coaching program, we met with the team both as a group and individually to coach them on successfully implementing their action plan. As a result of our work together, the team has more easily and quickly begun to accomplish its critical organization goals, and work more effectively together, and enjoy the process. We continue to coach this organization.

  We consulted with an independent professional who owns a marketing firm. She had been in business for a little over one year when she engaged in a coaching relationship with us. Up until that point, she utilized few formalized systems and processes in the day-to-day operations of her business. She desired to change not only the way she conducted business, but also the type of clients she attracted. We worked together to get her to begin thinking more strategically. Through our work, she created her unique organizational vision, mission, and values. From there we designed her business strategy, and developed her business and marketing plans. She continues to put new systems and processes in place and is progressively attracting her target clients. She now feels she is steering her own ship, and has the appropriate direction and has the confidence she needed to continue to make better business decisions.

As a consultant and facilitator, Melissa brings strategic insight, extensive project leadership experience, and leadership development expertise to corporations, startups, and professionals. She has an MBA from UCLA, a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in cultural Anthropology , is a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute, and is a Lore International Institute Certified Executive Coach.

Before founding KADIMA, Melissa guided executives of major companies through large-scale organizational change and Human Resources transformation during her work with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Since beginning her career, Melissa has partnered with executives at more than 15 clients in healthcare, technology, consumer products, entertainment, and Internet companies. These include Sony Entertainment, HealthNet Inc, Pacificare, Agilent Technologies, Providian Financial, Hewlett Packard, and a variety of start-ups and businesses.
